Reclaim your voice and body with Sonic Anatomy by exploring the power of sound and vocal toning for healing, empowerment, and self-expression. Nourish and nurture your body and chakras with the healing sound of your own voice and metabolize emotions and experiences that may have gotten stuck in your body and voice over the years.
Play, movement, and curiosity are encouraged to free ourselves and our voices from old constraints and beliefs of how we are supposed to sound. No singing experience is necessary. Let your voice be a vessel for your personal transformation.
Who do you want to be when you grow up? The UAM invites you to join one of our series of workshops where students will engage in conversations about self-representation and envision their futures. Inspired by Cindy Sherman's Untitled Film Stills on display in Warhol & Friends, participants in the workshops will have the opportunity to study the work of Cindy Sherman, learn photography basics, use props and costumes to create a scene that reflect their hopes for the future. Some props and costumes will be provided, but participants are encouraged to bring their own items. After the workshop, everyone will receive a physical print of their image.
Local artist Marcus Xavier Chormicle will lead the workshop, teaching students about the work of Cindy Sherman and helping photograph each scene. Each workshop has a capacity of 20 participants, please register at UAM website.
