There’s been a recent surge in authentic depictions of Native American people and stories in pop culture. In honor of Native American Heritage Month, ¾ÅÉ«Íø discussed this shift with author and filmmaker Ramona Emerson, and the struggle she faced as a Diné writer to get her debut novel published.

On this episode we speak with Ramona Emerson. She is a Diné writer and filmmaker originally from Tohatchi New Mexico, who has published her first novel. It features a Diné forensic photographer who must also face the ghosts of victims from the crime scenes she documents.
