¾ÅÉ«Íø Call In Show 4/7 8a: The level of crime in our cities makes many New Mexicans feel unsafe. And disturbing violent crimes have dominated our attention recently. Is our system working to make New Mexico safer?
Investigative journalist Jeff Proctor's reporting on Albuquerque police shootings paved the way for a U.S. Department of Justice investigation. We'll talk about his recent work on prosecuting police misconduct, rooting out the most violent offenders and improving inequities and dysfunction in the criminal justice system.
We'll talk to public defender Shira Kieval about her experience with how the system treats the most vulnerable--and the most violent. And state Sen. Lisa Torraco, R-Albuquerque, will tell us about her efforts in Santa Fe to improve the system. She's also a defense attorney.
We'd like to hear from you. Email callinshow@kunm.org or call in live during the show.
