Since a school shooting in Parkland, Florida, left 17 people dead back in February, some of the students who survived have been rallying for other young people to get involved in politics.
Parkland students are touring the country to fight low turnout rates among young voters, and they鈥檙e .
Jackie Corin is a Parkland senior who鈥檚 on the tour. She said young people need to get more involved in the political process because they can make an impact.
鈥淚t鈥檚 really all about kind of making politics a part of your everyday life and not being scared to do so, because it does affect everyone in this country whether they notice it or not,鈥� she said.
In the last presidential election, only across the country cast their ballots - that鈥檚 the lowest of any age group.
The Parkland students will host a barbecue at Roosevelt Park starting at 2:00 through 4:00, where they鈥檒l register people to vote.
Corin said they鈥檙e expecting protests from local Second Amendment supporters, but she鈥檚 up for getting them registered, too.
